Could it be that the soul would like to leave the body, but the ego still prevents this process, for example in the case of dementia?

Let’s use a metaphor of a dove and take a look at the transition to eternal life, as you call it. Let’s talk about the transformation, returning from physical earthly existence to the great field of love: the heavenly form.

Let’s see the birth of a dove as a metaphor for the transition. And when that dove leaves the nest and is able to fly, that is the moment when the soul has arrived in the infinite field of love.

Let us envision the moment when a fertilized pigeon egg is laid in the nest and how it then takes all the time and life force to gradually create a little dove in that egg.

Everything develops at the right time. When the pigeon is ready to actually take the next step, it will ensure that the shell of the egg breaks and that the pigeon rests in the nest. The parents will ensure that this pigeon is fed, can continue to grow and develop and eventually is ready to fly.

The same can be said of the dying process for some people. Some people seem to die almost spontaneously, suddenly. Others have a bed of sickness and others have a mental change where they go more and more back to an innocent mind. By an innocent mind we mean a mind that no longer conforms to society.

The question that is being asked is actually about the people who are in a longer process of transition from life to death. Either through illness or another way of leaving the physical form.

You could see and compare that period with the period that the dove is in the egg and in the nest, before it has the transition and can spread its wings to that great world, that world of infinite love.

For some people it is necessary to experience this transition in such a way that the personality has time to let go.

And as we indicate via the metaphor the dove gradually develops through life force. In transition at the end of a life sometimes the life force decreases in people. Either the body gets sick or the mind gets weak.

A lot happens for the soul during that period. So it is not so much that the personality prevents the human being from transforming to the next phase, it is in service of the soul that the human being is still on earth to experience this transformation that is important for the soul.

It is a phase in which a lot happens. You will notice that many people who become terminally ill often go through a lot. Sometimes a lot changes in the personality, it is possible that it lets go more. Sometimes new connections and love relationships arise that are so much more intense and contain more colors than before.

It is also often a realization of what life means. And for the people who experience that the mind is no longer so clear, more confused, it is a way to be more present in the big field.

Consciousness is expanded into a field that is not of this earth. As a result, it also seems that they no longer have such a grip on this life. Sometimes there is anger, separateness, sometimes there is a childlike love and innocence. It is never possible to say what the form is, but know that every form is intended.

And that the personality is in service of what the soul wishes to experience, so even when the behavior is difficult or painful, both for the person him or herself and for the environment, it is intended that this is experienced by the soul. Also by the people around this person, so that they can also enter a process in which they deal with acceptance, through which they learn something about themselves. Love may exist in other forms than they were used to, because there is a part of their familiar relationship missing.

So it is not so much the personality that holds the transition back as the development of the personality that serves the soul.

This development does not always have to look beautiful and powerful. It can also happen in duality in a phase that is difficult.

From the soul perspective exactly what is needed happens.

The moment that this phase has been completed is the moment that the pigeon can fly out of the nest. You could say that the person who is sick, physically or mentally, is the pigeon in the nest and the people who take care of this person are the parents of the dove. They feed and they do so unconditionally, because they know that this person needs it.

And that too is a wonderful development for the souls of those around this person. The soul’s divine timing chooses the moment when the experience is complete and physical life is released to transform into the eternal.
